Improved Desch range

Consumers’ wishes lead to improvements in Desch’s range

For many years now Desch Plantpak customers have played an important role in determining not only our product range but also the design of all our products. This continues in this new season with their requirements being incorporated in our products as much as possible. Thanks to a series of improvements our products remain leaders among professional horticultural supplies. Due to increased technical capabilities we are now better equipped to cater to the needs of the consumer. This leads to faster watering and drainage, superior air management, a stiffer product with excellent properties for mechanical processing and uniformity of size and colour.

New bottoms

The most important and eye-catching change was in the pot’s bottoms. Desch had already introduced the rotund bottom in 1989. This bottom was ahead of its time, which can be seen from the fact that the same concept serves as the basis for the latest generation of bottoms. In 1989 the pots had 5 holes in the bottom. This has now developed through 8 to 12 and even 16 holes. The principle of angled positioning has never been abandoned since it has more than proven its functionality through the years. What has changed is the relatively simple structure of the bottom from the 80’s that has now been replaced with an ingenious system of channels that can easily be used in the most demanding cultivation systems.

Flattened pot rim

In order to improve the mechanical processing properties of Desch’s products even more, the latest generation of pots and containers have been provided with a new, flattened rim. This has made the rim noticeably more rigid, which means more pots can be put in one stack which has the advantage of saving storage space. In addition, feeding pots into automatic pot fillers is less labour intensive. Standard colours In addition to this, demand continues to grow for pots that have a natural terra cotta appearance. In order to bring greater uniformity to the entire Desch Plantpak range we have decided to use a terra cotta colour for our well-known Penta products as well. This makes it easy to combine products from the Penta and Desch ranges within one company. But there’s also news about the other standard black pots. From now on every Desch black pot or container is being manufactured from two layers as standard: coal-black on the outside and subtle black on the inside. The result is a pot that has a perfect black colour that is also guaranteed lightproof.

Anti-static treatment

Finally, our production lines have been altered. In order to prevent static charges causing problems during the mechanical processing of Desch pots, all Desch production lines have been fitted with the latest anti-static treatment. This method of treatment limits the risk of there being charged products to an absolute minimum. This applies to both standard products and printed pots and containers.
